Overview
InfraVis is a Swedish national research infrastructure funded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). It provides researchers across all scientific domains with access to advanced visualization competence, state-of-the-art equipment, and modern data analysis methods.
Operating through a distributed network across nine partner universities, InfraVis helps scientists translate complex, large-scale datasets into clear scientific insights. Their expertise covers the entire visualization pipeline—including statistical analysis, machine learning, and interactive design—leveraging the human brain's natural ability to detect visual patterns and anomalies.
Core Areas of Impact
InfraVis partners with major data-intensive facilities like MAX IV and NAISS to deliver advanced visual analysis across multiple sectors:
- Health & Medicine: Assisting medical researchers in interpreting complex data and developing visual analysis methods for clinical datasets.
- Climate & Environment: Transforming complex environmental metrics into evidence-based visual models that support sustainability planning and strategic policy decisions.
- Society & Culture: Bringing data-driven analytical insights to the humanities and social sciences, enabling deeper interpretation of cultural and historical data.
- Science & Discovery: Opening new frontiers across the physical sciences by creating customized interactive visual representations of otherwise abstract data.
- Outreach & Education: Making research accessible through training, workshops, and visual storytelling that bridges the gap between academia and the public.
